Aluminum Rail Formerly Real Trains

RMI's 15R1A aluminum rail is suitable for 7.25- and 7.5-inch gauge tracks. It is smaller in height and head width than typical West Coast Profile rail. After over ten years of use on my private track (southeast Louisiana, with high rainfall totals), I detect little to no wear (I run 6 - 8 visitor days per year, with three or four trains in constant use - all locomotives are light duty, e.g. NW-2, 4-4-0, 2-6-0). The 106" length can be shipped via UPS. Under the Real Trains banner, his track system included rail joiners, switch frogs (no.8) and switch points. On my last order, RMI stated that they carried the joiners. The 15R1A rail is not as robust as West Coast rail - it may be problematic on a railroad with daily or weekly use and/or with heavy loads. My rail was easy to conform to 25-foot radius curves and both curves and straight sections have maintained their alignment for over ten years. I have used both the 106" and 10-foot lengths, which use the same joiners.
